Participating Organizations

Participating organizations are organizations that share the vision of the power of nonviolence to create positive change in our community and our world and whose mission includes working toward this goal.

Now in it's 7th year, the annual Carry the Vision Community Nonviolence Conference acknowledges participating organizations who share in the vision, goals and commitment of this conference to make a positive difference in our community and our world.

Participating Organizations celebrate diversity, engage in work that is in some way committed to supporting nonviolence, and share the vision of a harmonious community. The key principles of this conference include focusing on the good work being done by our organizations to promote nonviolence and to ensure that people are supported in their diverse viewpoints. Proselytizing is not allowed at the conference. Participation in the conference is not an endorsement of the views of the organization.

We support issues and campaigns that improve the quality of life for low wage workers and their families by such means as improving wages, benefits and working conditions.

International Association for Human Values

The International Association for Human Values (IAHV) was founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a renowned humanitarian and peace mediator. It is committed to developing and promoting programs of personal development that encourage the practice of human values in everyday life with the goal of developing a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.

Jain Center of Northern California

The Jain Center of Northern California preserves and promotes the teaching of Jainism, a religion with roots back to 900 B.C. This unique, member-run non-profit organization incorporates the innovative and progressive lifestyle of over 700 Jain families in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area.

La Raza Roundtable de California

La Raza Roundtable de California is an inclusive organization for all people with emphasis on improving the quality of life for Chicanos/Raza through advocacy in order to insure equality, social justice, education, and leadership development via a monthly forum for discussion of issues affecting our community.

Network for Spiritual Progressives

The Network of Spiritual Progressives is an international community of people of many faiths calling for social justice and political freedom in the context of new structures of work, caring communities, and democratic social and economic arrangements. Next Door: Solutions to Domestic Violence

Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence provides services to victims of domestic violence and their children. Our mission is to end domestic violence now and for all time.

The Parent Project

The Parent Project offers specialized programs to prevent or stop children from using alcohol, drugs and tobacco; for improving parent-child communication; for improving children's grades and school attendance; and for recognizing and preventing gang involvement.

Refugee Foster Care Program, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County

The Refugee Foster Care Program trains and supports potential foster parents to care for refugee youth in need of loving homes. It prepares youth for eventual emancipation through the provision of independent living skills and provides supported housing for youth transitioning out of foster care with Catholic Charities.

Santa Clara County Law Advocates

Santa Clara County Law Advocates is a nonprofit group that promotes law-related education. We distribute consumer-oriented legal materials, arrange court visits for students, support mock trial competitions and have luncheons with interesting speakers. San Jose Sikh Gurdwara

Late Pyra Singh Obhi and many other dedicated sevadars of the community founded the Sikh Gurdwara in 1984. To enforce equality and remove all prejudices, First Sikh Guru Nanak started the community kitchen. All Sikh Gurus welcomed everyone to cook, eat and clean here together regardless of race, color, religion etc. All Gurdwaras have community kitchens and only vegetarian food is served.

SEMAH

SEMAH, Inc. is an interfaith and inter-community domestic violence prevention organization. Our mission is to channel the strength of our diverse communities to combat the universal scourge that is domestic violence. We aim to prevent it through education and outreach.

Silicon Valley FACES

Silicon Valley FACES builds a caring and inclusive community, free of bias and bigotry, by bringing people together through educational programs and services for victims of violent crime.

Step Up Silicon Valley

Step Up Silicon Valley: the Campaign to Cut Poverty in Santa Clara County is a community-based initiative, founded by Catholic Charities, that includes community-based organizations, the public sector, faith communities and businesses, and is part of the national campaign to reduce poverty in America.

Support Network: a Department of the YWCA of Silicon Valley

Support Network empowers our diverse community to live free of domestic violence.

Third Street Community Center

The Third Street Community Center is a multi-service agency that offers two key initiatives. Inspiring Young Minds and Families weaves together various programs to promote life-long learning by inspiring children to want to attend college, be socially responsible and adopt healthy behaviors. Leading Strong and Healthy Lives is an agency-wide initiative that integrates a wellness component into all Third Street Programs.

United Religions Initiative

The United Religions Initiative (URI) is an internationally-recognized interfaith network active in 75 countries. We cultivate and connect grassroots change-makers across religious, cultural and geographic boundaries, harnessing their collective power to take on religiously-motivated violence and social, economic and environmental crises that destabilize regions and contribute to poverty.

Valley International Academy

Valley International Academy seeks to develop students (grades 6-12) who will exemplify academic excellence, social responsibility, and global citizenship in a supportive, exciting, and international environment that inspires critical thinking with an entrepreneurial spirit.
